Can a Bot Write a Blog? I Tested an AI Content Marketing Tool to Find Out

I’ve heard artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing can do some amazing things including stock trading, legal research, win Jeopardy, generating personalized content on landing pages, power Facebook Messenger chatbots for customer support, and many more (here’s 59 awesome things AI technology can do!)

But could it really handle content marketing or social media content creation?! In real-time (or at least in under 1 minute)?!!

When I read about Articoolo I had to give it a test run. And at just a few bucks per article I figured it was worth a shot if it could save hours of work. To be honest, my expectations were pretty low but I thought if it could get the blog even 60-70% done that would be well worth the pocket change.

If the tool could give content marketers a lump of clay to mold into unique and relevant content then that would be a game-changer.  Even though the writer would still need to come up with content strategy, implement SEO, adjust readability for the target audience and proof-reed for quality content.

With great anticipation, I put in my first test phrase into the Articoolo AI tool.  For some fun irony, I input “A.I. content marketing” but the Artificial Intelligence powers-that-be rejected this query and suggested I try “content marketing” instead.  Well who was I to argue with AI technology?!

With bated breathe I waited for the loading bar to create my automatically generated masterpiece. Then like a jello mold falling off the counter, the article plopped onto my screen in a glorious, jumbled mess.
